Apple vs. Samsung: iPhone Generates Nearly 8X the Traffic of All Contested Samsung Phones

On Friday, August 25th, the jury for the largest patent trial in U.S history released its verdict that Samsung owed Apple over one billion dollars for patent violations. Apple is now looking to get eight of Samsung’s phones barred from sale in the United States for their similarities to the iPhone. Chitika Insights decided to examine the impact such a ban would have on Samsung and Apple.

Mountain Lion Adoption Eclipses 10% Mark after First Month

Since Mountain Lion officially turned one month old last Saturday, Chitika Insights revisited this study to see how quickly Mac users were adopting the latest operating system now that the novelty has begun to wear.

Google Usage Rates Vary Across Browsers

With this in mind, Chitika Insights looked to measure whether the Web browser a person uses has any impact on the search engine they use.

Galaxy S III Users Generate Over 15% of All Samsung Mobile Traffic

The last report published by Chitika Insights showed the Galaxy S III representing 11.23% of all Samsung smartphone Web usage through Aug 6th, 2012. With the phone’s popularity still growing, Chitika Insights conducted another study examining the hundreds of millions of smartphone impressions during the last two weeks, from August 7th, 2012 to August 20th, 2012.

RIM Web Usage Down 25% in the Past Year

A recent report from IDC pegged RIM’s quarterly market share at 4.8% based on sales – the company’s lowest mark in this area since 2009. Meanwhile, Apple’s iOS shipped 16.9% of all phones worldwide. The Chitika Insights team was interested in seeing how these global figures translate to overall Web usage in North America by analyzing the past year of mobile usage statistics.
